Is It Time For A New HVAC System Installation?

Posted on

The HVAC system in your home is going to eventually wear out and need to be replaced. The system can last anywhere from 15-25 years, but there are a number of variables to consider that can impact the lifespan of your system. Once you reach a point where you are spending too much money on repairs and your system continues to break, it's time for an HVAC installation contractor to come and give you an estimate. Running an old, out-dated system is going to raise your utility bills because it won't be efficient anymore. As your system gets older, it will become clear when it is time for a new HVAC installation for your home.

Your System is On Longer

If your HVAC system seems to turn on for longer periods of time to get your home to a comfortable temperature, this is a sign that your system is not as efficient as it used to be. While the blower motor and coils can be replaced, this may not be your problem. If both the blower motor and coils are in good shape, your system just can't do the work to keep your home comfortable anymore.

You Hear Loud Noises

You will notice that your system gets louder as it gets older. While this is common, loud noises are a good indication that you need a new HVAC installation. If your outdoor unit is loud when running, or you hear banging noises coming from your furnace, it's time to get your system inspected to see if you need a replacement.

Your System Is More Than Ten Years Old

While your HVAC system can last much longer than ten years, you might need an HVAC installation if you are having issues with performance and your system is more than ten years old. If you don't get your system maintained once a year and there are frequent breakdowns, you might need a new system to keep your home at a comfortable temperature.

The System Hasn't Been Maintained

Your HVAC system should be serviced before the heating season and before the cooling season. It should also be inspected when there are problems and repaired as needed. If your HVAC system doesn't get serviced twice a year, it is not going to last as long as it should. If you have an HVAC system that hasn't received routine care over the years, you may need to invest in a new HVAC installation for your home.
